WHAT IS A CHRISTIAN?

You might think a Christian is someone who is religious, a church attendee, a nice person or maybe even someone brought up in England!  But the definition of a Christian found in the Bible - God's Word, clears away many of this ideas!

The Bible tells us that a Christian is someone who responds to God's love, believes in Jesus, recognises that we do things wrong and need to say sorry to God, and then ask God to come into the very centre of our lives, and to lead us, rule us and guide us.

So many people have big questions of life. They have so many questions about what life is all about and often it helps to talk about these and find answers. WBC runs a short 12 week course that allows you to do this, called Alpha. If you feel you'd like to sign up for our "no strings attached" course, please click HERE for details. If at the end of the course you really feel that Christianity is not for you, then we will not contact you again.

In the mean time ...

How to become a Christian

WHAT JESUS CAN DO

To have Jesus in our lives is wonderful and we sincerely want others to know this reality too.

It may be that as you read this, you don't feel that you can testify to experiencing God in a very real way, but that you would very much like to. Well, the Good News is that you can!

God has made a way for us to come to know Him now and to be sure of a place in heaven. How? Through His Son Jesus. Jesus said:

"I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me" John 14:6

Jesus came into the world to remove that which separates us from God - our sin.

"Your sins have separated you from God" Isaiah 59:2

We are all separated from Him because the Bible tells us -

"We have all sinned and fallen short" Romans 3:23

That means we are separated from God now and for eternity. God however, doesn't want us to be separated from Him. He wants us to have eternal life with Him.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" John 3:16

Jesus died on the cross to remove our sin and its consequences.

"Christ died for sins once for all, to bring you to God" 1Peter 3:18

Jesus died on the cross to remove our sins but rose again and is ALIVE TODAY!

You can come to Him and know His forgiveness, love and healing power in your life.

HOW?

  • BY ADMITTING THAT YOU HAVE SINNED [Broken God's laws]
  • BY TURNING FROM YOUR SIN AND GOING GOD'S WAY FOR YOUR LIFE
  • BY COMMITTING YOUR LIFE TO JESUS CHRIST.

You may like to say a prayer like this:

I know I have sinned in my thoughts, words and actions.

There are so many good things I have not done.

I am sorry for my sins and turn from everything I know to be wrong.

You gave your life upon the cross for me.

Gratefully I give my life back to you.

Now I ask you to come into my life.

Come in as my Saviour to cleanse me.

Come in as my Lord to control me.

Come in as my friend to be with me.

And I will serve you all the remaining years of my life in complete obedience.

Amen
