What is discipleship
Discipleship is far more than Bible Study at WBC! It's about growth in character, discernment, perspective, and yes - knowledge too!
At WBC we are committed to growing new Christians into mature disciples. This is a life long task, but we want to ensure that new and existing Christians do not stand still in their faith, but as part of WBC see a measured difference over a period of time in their Christian faith. Unlike some churches we do not see becoming a church member as the end of the discipleship period, but as a beginning and a spring board to greater depth in the things of God in our lives.
That's a big vision, and its a big task, but at WBC we are trying to make it happen.
How does it take place in WBC?
Well through a number of ways:
The process begins with an Alpha Course, which is then followed by our Nurture Course.
After these courses, attendance is strongly attended within our weekly house group meetings. All the groups cover the same material, and this is often preached on at the Sunday worship service before the study. |
